MEETING - Before kicking off the 75th Pablo Casals de Prades Festival, the conductor of the Ensemble Intercontemporain is making his debut this week at the prestigious London Proms, to champion the music of the composer whose centenary was celebrated this year.
He admits it: it's one of the legendary events that forged his vocation, when he was still a very young musician. "One of those events that I watched from afar with stars in my eyes . " This Wednesday, July 23, French conductor Pierre Bleuse will make his debut at the BBC Proms in London... A debut that will have a special flavor for him. He will be at the head of the ensemble he has been leading for two years: the Ensemble intercontemporain, founded by Pierre Boulez, a composer whose centenary of birth is being celebrated this year. "Defending his music on a stage as popular as the Proms, in this anniversary year, is highly symbolic ," he acknowledges. "It's also an opportunity to remember that behind the clichés, there was a curious, simple Pierre Boulez, eager to transmit his music to as many people as possible, and open to this type of major event."
As if to prove him right, the event's website lists Boulez 's participations
